Great Western Shawl Kit by Macarena Silva (Annual Six)

We now offer handy kits for all our patterns in The Annual (issue six)! This is the extra cosy Great Western Shawl by Macarena Silva, a beautiful garter stitch design accentuated by a cable panel that can be knit in Lace, 4ply or DK weight. All kits include enough yarn to knit the shawl, along with a fab project bag to keep it all safe. Please be aware that the kit does not include a copy of The Annual – you can get your copy here. A big, cosy shawl is one of our go-tos when it comes to packing for a train journey: It's essential for keeping your neck warm in case it's just a bit too cold in the compartent and, if needed, can double as a blanket to wrap up in for a little nap! Macarena Silva's Great Western Shawl is exactly the right type of design for this purpose: Its generous triangular shape is created out of warm, cosy garter stitch and accentuated with an elegant cable resembling railway tracks crisscrossing and fading into the horizon. Named after the railway line that brings you to Devon (engineered by Isambard Kingdom Brunel), the Great Western Shawl is knit on the bias and can be worked in Lace, 4ply or DK-weight. Each version will have a slightly different size and drape – from effortlessly elegant to extra cosy! Our samples are knit in Seafarer Lace, Harvest Hues 4ply and Appledore DK (in one of the new shades coming in the Autumn!).
