Vintage 22K Gold Nugget Pendant with Pac-Man Resemblance

Whenever we can, we try to acquire gold nugget jewelry, as we love the free form nature of the gold. This one has an undeniable charm to it: in profile, it resembles a monster with an open mouth, or even a gold nugget version of the Atari Pac-Man. It has a pretty patina, and its crevices were created when the nugget was removed from the host stone, giving it a beautiful texture and rugged shape. It makes a great pendant worn alone or in a stack. Gold nuggets are formed by hot fluids flowing through cracks deep in the Earth’s crust. Weather eventually releases the nuggets into streams and bodies of water, where they are shaped by erosion and time. The free form dimensions of gold nuggets are organic and poetic, highlighting the buttery gold and extraordinary crevices. They are a beautiful display of gold in its natural, unaltered state. The nugget measures 3/4” x 1/2”, plus an additional 4.5 mm round bail. It weighs 4.3 grams. Unmarked; acid tests as 22k gold.
