Bichir ornatipinnis 10-12cm

The Ornate Bichir is a striking freshwater fish prized by aquarists for its unique appearance and fascinating behavior. This specimen measures 10-12cm, making it an ideal size for established aquariums. Ornate Bichirs are nocturnal bottom-dwellers with elongated bodies, distinctive spotted patterns, and a row of dorsal finlets. They thrive in well-planted tanks with plenty of hiding spots, driftwood, and caves. These fish are peaceful toward larger tank mates but may prey on smaller fish and invertebrates. Ideal water conditions include temperatures of 24-28°C, slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-7.0), and good filtration. Feed quality sinking pellets, frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp, and occasional live prey. Bichirs are hardy and long-lived with proper care, making them rewarding additions to specialized community setups. Minimum tank size: 75 liters. Compatible with other medium to large peaceful species. Not recommended for planted tanks with delicate plants due to their bottom-feeding behavior.
