The Wire Works Port Cask in the core range is a vatting of fresh Tawny Port barriques and first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, bottled at 50.2% ABV. The result is a complex and rich whisky, non-chill filtered and with no added colouring. Nose: Notes of cinder toffee, Bakewell pudding, milk chocolate, burnt sugar, marzipan, and strawberry jam. Reviewers on theheartcut.com also mention rich, smoky notes reminiscent of burnt ends and stewed plums. Palate: Flavours of marzipan, strawberries and cream, vanilla fudge, tinned peaches, milk chocolate, and orange zest.
