Vintage 14K Cat's Eye Chrysoberyl and diamond dress ring
A vintage 14K ring with Cat's Eye Chrysoberyl and diamonds in a cable-link bordered face. Cat's Eye Chrysoberyl - when cut en cabochon - is a coveted "phenomena" gemstone with a seemingly magical ability to concentrate light in a floating band across the body of the stone. This effect is called "chatoyancy" and refers to the sharp, bright line that "pops out" and shifts side to side in the gemstone under direct light. This ring features three Cat's Eye chrysoberyl, one round (center) and the other two oval (approx. 1.0 CTW). The phenomena of chatoyancy is strong across all three, with one displaying the "milk and honey"color, another with a yellowish-grey body color and the third yellowish-green. Two round brilliant cut diamonds accent the link-motif face. Split shoulders and a simple shank. Measurements: Size 8 1/4 US, 2.8 grams Era: 1970s-1980s Markings: N/A
