Mid-century Chinoiserie Lacquered Folding Screen
A four-panel Chinese black lacquer screen dating to the 1930s–50s. One side is inlaid with mother-of-pearl and carved stone, depicting elegant figures among flowering trees and bamboo. The reverse is decorated with delicate gilt botanical motifs on a deep black lacquer ground. The screen presents very well either free-standing or could be hung on the wall with the correct fixings and support suitable for the wall. Dimensions: 183 cm high. Each panel 45 cm wide. Overall width 184 cm. Condition: Marks consistent with age and use. The primary side with mother-of-pearl remains in very good condition with only very minor cosmetic wear. The reverse shows slightly more losses and retouching to the surfaces with age-related bumps.
