Patek Philippe Top Hat 1450 "Pink on Pink" - Archive Papers
On offer is a stunning Patek Philippe, ref. 1450, with curved "Top Hat" style case, circa 1945. It houses a very rare rose gold dial, making it highly attractive, seldom seen and what collectors refer to as "pink on pink." This production period is also known for the longer dial signature of Patek Philippe & Co. which many collectors find to be especially attractive. It is powered by a manual wind PP cal. 9-90 which is considered one of their most beautiful in-house movements in the "golden age" of watchmaking. It was leveraged for several other rectangular shaped watches from the late 30s to mid 50s. Remaining in exceptional vintage condition, this example presents with a remarkably clean dial and minimal signs of wear. The raised enamel signature is beautifully preserved, while the case retains its crisp lines and two sharp hallmarks. Adding further appeal for the discerning collector, the watch is accompanied by archive papers confirming its original production and sale details. For those seeking a true vintage Patek Philippe, this “Top Hat” offers the combination of originality, condition, provenance, and unmistakable character that makes these watches so compelling.
