State Bicycle Co. - Carbon Seatpost — 27.2mm / 400mm / 0mm Setback
179 grams. Zero setback. Every rail standard covered. Most riders never think about their seatpost until they're chasing a creak or fighting a saddle angle that won't hold. This one is built so you don't have to think about it. Gloss black unidirectional carbon, a clamp head that actually adjusts, and hardware in the box for whichever saddle you're running. At 179g it's roughly a third lighter than the alloy post it's replacing — the cheapest real weight you'll ever buy on a bike. Why carbon here matters The seatpost is one of the few places on a bike where carbon does something you can actually feel. On a 27.2mm post there's a long, unsupported span between the seat collar and your saddle, and that span flexes. Carbon flexes on a different curve than aluminum — it gives on sharp, high-frequency hits and stiffens up when you put power down. Translation: chatter from broken pavement, gravel washboard, and chipseal gets filtered before it reaches you. Long days hurt less. Nothing is lost when you stand up and sprint. That's also why 27.2 is the diameter endurance and gravel frames keep coming back to. It's the skinniest common standard, so it's the one with the most give built in. The head Saddle angle on a lot of posts is a coin flip — you get one position, or the next one over, and nothing in between. This head uses a single central bolt with a rocking cradle, so angle is continuously adjustable rather than stepped. Set it where you want it, torque it once, and it stays. Loosening one bolt also means fore/aft and tilt adjust together, on the bike, without pulling the saddle off or hunting for a second Allen key. Both rail standards, both sets of hardware Saddle rails come in two shapes and most posts only ship the hardware for one: 7mm round — steel, titanium, and chromoly rails. The standard on most saddles. 7x9mm oval — carbon rails. What you'll find on higher-end and lightweight saddles. Both cradle sets are in the box. Swap saddles, run whatever you want, no adapter kit to hunt down six months from now. Zero setback — and why you might want it This post is inline: the saddle clamp sits directly over the post's centerline, with no rearward offset. Choose inline if: your frame has a steep seat tube angle, you ride gravel or endurance and prefer a slightly forward position, you've been running a setback post slammed all the way forward on its rails, or you want more room to fine-tune fore/aft without maxing out the clamp. Look elsewhere if: you're currently running a setback post with the saddle already pushed to the back of its rails. Going inline will move you forward roughly 20–25mm, and you may not be able to get it back. Not sure? Measure the horizontal distance from the center of your bottom bracket to the nose of your saddle on your current setup, then check it again after you swap. That number is what you're trying to preserve. Fitment Seat tube diameter: 27.2mm. Frames with a 30.9mm or 31.6mm seat tube will need a shim, sold separately. Length: 400mm — long enough for large frames and riders with a lot of post showing. Saddle rails: 7mm round or 7x9mm oval. Check your frame's minimum insertion before you cut anything, and confirm the post reaches at least that depth at your saddle height. Specifications Material: Unidirectional carbon fiber Diameter: 27.2mm Length: 400mm Setback: 0mm (inline) Saddle rail compatibility: 7x7mm round and 7x9mm oval Hardware: Both cradle sets included Clamp: Single-bolt, continuously adjustable angle Finish: Gloss black Weight: 179g Installation Carbon posts are easy to install correctly and easy to damage by guessing. Three rules: Use a torque wrench. Not a feel for it. Not "one more click." Follow the torque values marked on the post and on your frame's seat collar, and use the lower of the two. Use carbon assembly paste, not grease. Paste adds grip so the post holds at lower clamping force — which is the whole point. Respect minimum insertion. The line on the post is not a suggestion. If you're not set up for torque work, this is a ten-minute job at any shop. In the box Carbon 27.2mm seatpost, 400mm 7mm round rail cradle hardware 7x9mm oval rail cradle hardware
