Deflector Racks for Indirect & Two-Zone Cooking Important: Deflector racks are sold in pairs. Each Primo Oval grill uses a pair. Heat deflector racks support the ceramic heat deflector plates below the cooking grids on Primo Oval grills. Use both racks and both plates for full indirect cooking, or use one rack and one plate to create separate direct and indirect cooking zones. Most Common Setups Two Racks + Two Plates: Creates a full indirect setup for smoking and low-and-slow barbecue cooks. One Rack + One Plate: Creates direct and indirect heat zones for flexible two-zone grilling. How the Deflector Racks Work Each rack hangs below the cooking grid and supports one ceramic deflector plate over the charcoal. Place the racks in the grill, set the deflector plates on the racks, then install the cooking grids above them.
