Preventative Survival: The Psychology of Surviving - October 18
October 18, 1:30 - 4:00 at Pack Rat Having the right mental attitude is critical in determining your actions and decisions when encountering a stressful emergency situation. Do you know where the real threats come from or have you ever considered how you would react if exposed to an unanticipated dangerous situation when hiking, backpacking, or pursuing another outdoor interest? Most of us have never been in that situation. Preplanning your survival begins by anticipating possible threats that you may encounter, your mental reactions, your preventative self-care efforts, and how you prepare to react to them. While we tend to think of survival from a living-off-the-land approach, most survival situations last less than 72 hours and really begin in your head. This clinic will explore the factors that influence how a person might respond and can further assist an individual in efforts to evaluate and develop his/her survival attitude in a logical, comprehendible progression.
