Sparkling Orange Daylily Most people who see 'Sparkling Orange' daylily in person say that it looks even more beautiful in person. We think the pictures are pretty beautiful, but agree that, like most daylilies, it really shines in real life! Fun Fact: Sparkling Orange is a nocturnal daylily. This means it begins opening later in the day rather than in the morning. Gorgeous! Big, 6" golden-orange blooms sit atop scapes nearly 3' tall in our East Tennessee garden. A nice light fragrance makes this extremely striking daylily even more lovely. As an early to mid daylily, we begin to see these bright golden orange blooms around the first of June. If you live to our north, you'll see them a bit after we do. If you live to our south, you'll get to see them a couple of weeks before us. Sparkling Orange is a dormant daylily. This means it is best grown in areas that receive a sustained winter cold period, like those in zones 8 and lower.
