SWEET PEA CANDLE ~ For Gratitude, Tenderness & Farewell
The sweet pea is native to Italy and the Aegean, but was cultivated in England by Henry Eckford specifically for the garden trade during the Victorian era. In 1901, Silas Cole, the head gardener to the then Earl Spencer, discovered a natural mutation with increased fragrance and huge frilly petals more reminiscent of today’s flowers and named it ‘Countess Spencer.’ Widely regarded as the birth flower of April, they are considered lucky and linked to St Patrick’s Day. It is believed that if you plant sweet pea seeds before the sun rises on this particular day, you will be granted both luck and an abundance of extra fragrant flowers. In France, the sweet pea is believed to be a good omen for a bride, encouraging those around her to be truthful and give her strength and persistence. Our soy candles are hand poured in small batches in Beddgelert, North Wales, and finished with a crackling wood wick. Like our jewellery, our candles are inspired by the language of flowers. The collection centres on single flowers and the meanings they have carried through generations, alongside a small number of seasonal fragrances inspired by folklore, the changing seasons and the places we’ve called home. Poured into amber glass jars and carefully presented in our signature packaging, they are made to be enjoyed at home or given as a thoughtful gift. Natural soy wax. Crackling wood wick. 250ml Amber glass jar with aluminium lid. Ready to gift in our signature packaging. Candle Care Trim the wood wick to around 3–5 mm before each burn. Allow the wax to melt to the edge of the jar on the first burn to help prevent tunnelling. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from children, pets and draughts.
