On compatible petrol-powered BMW G-Series vehicles (with BDC3 body controllers and iDrive 7 or newer) Once coded, you can start the engine by pressing the lock button on your key fob three times rapidly, or via the My BMW app. How to Use Remote Start Key Fob: Press the lock button 3 times in quick succession. The car stays locked while running the climate control. Press 3 times again to turn it off. Smartphone: Use the My BMW app climate section to trigger pre-conditioning remotely. Driving Off: You must still step on the brake pedal and press the Start/Stop button to take full control before driving. Requirements & Activation Vehicle Specs: Must be a petrol/gasoline model with a BDC3 controller and automatic transmission (though some aftermarket/custom coders support select manuals).
