Ten shallow oval discs in hand-blown white glass, each carried on a tapered brass socket and angled at its own tilt off a solid brass armature. The fixture hangs on three fine cables rather than a rigid stem, so it floats rather than sits. Ø 42.25" (107.3 cm) across and 14.5" (36.8 cm) deep. How it lights a room Understand this before specifying it. The discs face in different directions, some tilted up toward the ceiling and some angled down, and each tapered socket conceals its lamp behind the glass. Light reads off the surface of the discs rather than from a visible source, and a large part of the output goes upward and returns off the ceiling. The result is a soft ambient wash with no glare from any angle, but it is not a downlight. Over a dining table it lights the room beautifully and the tabletop only gently, so pair it with candles or discreet downlights if you need task light on the surface. The glass Each disc is hand-blown, with a soft cloudy banding that runs differently across every piece. No two discs carry the same pattern, which is the difference between hand-blown and moulded glass. The white body is dense enough to conceal the lamp completely while still glowing warm when lit. The brass Solid brass through the armature and the tapered sockets, in a satin aged finish rather than a bright polish, so it reads warm against the white glass instead of competing with it. The finish is on the metal itself, not lacquered over plating. Sizing and placement Over a dining table, a 42" fixture suits a table roughly 63" to 84" (160 to 215 cm) wide, hung with the lowest point 30" to 36" (76 to 91 cm) above the tabletop. In an open room, add the room's length and width in feet and read the total as inches: 42" belongs in a generous space of around 20 x 22 ft (6 x 6.7 m). Give it clear air. The discs project well beyond the armature and the piece is meant to be read in the round, so it does not suit a tight corner or a low alcove. Installation Suspended on three cables from a ceiling plate. The cable drop is adjustable at installation, which also lets you level the fixture precisely. That is worth attention here, because a disc chandelier shows a tilt far more obviously than a symmetrical one. Fix to a listed ceiling outlet box and confirm the box and the structure above it are rated for the fixture weight. Hang the armature first and fit the glass discs afterwards; they ship packed separately and should stay that way until the frame is level and secure. Two people minimum. Lamping Ten lamps, not supplied. Use identical lamps in every socket at 2700K, because the light is read off the glass and any mismatch in colour temperature shows immediately as one disc reading cooler than its neighbours. Output matters more than bulb appearance, since the lamps sit concealed behind the discs. The standard build is not dimmable, and a dimmable version is made on request when noted at the time of order. Care Dust the discs with a dry microfibre cloth, supporting each one from beneath rather than pressing on the face. Wipe the brass with a barely damp cloth and dry it immediately. Do not use metal polish, which cuts through the aged finish and leaves bright patches, and keep ammonia-based glass sprays away from the brass. Made to order Every piece is built to order.
