The Robin and The Wren Pentland Christmas Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky Liqueur – 26% vol. 50cl
The robin and the wren, twas on a merry time... The Robin and The Wren is the Christmas edition of Pentland, our single malt Scotch whisky liqueur, and the second half of this year's pair: The Holly and The Ivy covers the whisky, this one covers everything after dinner and beyond. Goes exceptionally well with plum pudding. Pentland starts life as aged Wolfburn single malt from fresh bourbon casks, joined with pure, natural, locally sourced ingredients. No artificial anything. What comes out is toffee, caramel and Christmas cake in a glass, bottled at 26%, non-chill filtered and naturally coloured. The label carries the robin and the wren, keeping the stags on The Holly and The Ivy company. The robin has always been winter's welcome companion; the wren gets her own day on the 26th, when the leftovers come out and nobody's in a hurry. Two bottles and a shelf that looks very good indeed when they're side by side. Pour The Robin and The Wren once Christmas dinner is cleared and the table has gone quiet, tip it into a coffee, or spoon it over good vanilla ice cream. There are no rules here, only suggestions. On the nose Sweet bourbon notes are overlaid with caramel, toffee and pistachio. This is heady stuff – big on sweetness, but without masking the hallmark aromas of Wolfburn's award-winning whiskies. On the palate Christmas cake and toffee apples meet Madeira wine – an absolutely stunning mouthful. Let the flavours unfurl and you'll pick up soft nectarous and floral tones, all overlaid with a beautiful, decadent, creamy sweetness. Finish It's oh-so-sweet, with autumn fruits and vanilla gently fading away, leaving just a trace of caramel at the very end. Non-chill filtered / Natural colour 26% vol. 50cl Is The Robin and The Wren the same as Pentland? Same recipe, different coat. It's Wolfburn's Pentland single malt Scotch whisky liqueur in its Christmas Edition 2026 label, bottled at 26% in a 50cl bottle. What makes it different from other whisky liqueurs? Most whisky liqueurs are built on blended Scotch or grain spirit. Pentland is made from aged Wolfburn single malt and natural, locally sourced ingredients, non-chill filtered and naturally coloured. How should I drink it? Anyway you like it after Christmas dinner, in a coffee, or over vanilla ice cream. Neat is also allowed. Most things are. The Robin and The Wren is one half of a pair: its partner, The Holly and The Ivy 10 Year Old, takes care of the single malt side of Christmas. Both are made by Wolfburn in Thurso, at the top of Scotland, by hand and without hurry. For the table, there are black or red luxury whisky Christmas crackers, for the big gift there's the Christmas Gift Pack with two Glencairn glasses, and for everything in between, the full collection of Christmas whisky gifts is open all winter.
