The Tara skirt begins with Kala cotton — an indigenous cotton handwoven in Kutch, grown in dry landscapes and requiring very little water. The fabric is then brought to life through natural dyeing, giving it a colour that feels honest and grounded. And then comes Bloom. Appliqué is an ancient technique — the art of placing and stitching pieces of fabric onto a surface to build pattern, texture, and form. What makes this piece different is where those fabric pieces come from. Every appliqué element on this skirt is made from waste fabric — offcuts and remnants that would otherwise be discarded. Cut carefully, placed with intention, and stitched by hand, they come together to form something that feels like things growing across the surface of the cloth. This is what Bloom means to us.
