Description Score: 99 pts - James Suckling Chacra Chardonnay 2019 is the top white of Bodega Chacra, the estate founded in 2004 by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta in Mainqué, in the Río Negro Valley of northern Patagonia, and farmed organically and biodynamically. It is made together with Jean-Marc Roulot of Domaine Roulot in Meursault, from 40-year-old vines in the Chacra Vineyard, rooted in mineral soils of alluvial stones coated in limestone. The 2019 was aged for 10 months in concrete eggs, stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels, 20% of them new. James Suckling rated it 99 points and named it No. 9 in his Top 100 Wines of Argentina 2020. "Pale and bright, it opens with yellow stone fruit, citrus and lemon cream, framed by hints of wax and a stony, mineral edge. The palate is intense and energetic yet refined, dry and round, carried by lively acidity and the natural saltiness of its Patagonian soils into a long, focused finish."
