Pure Brass Door Knockers

In India, the doorway has always been more than an entrance. It is where guests are welcomed, blessings are invited in and the home first makes its impression. For centuries, palace gates, temples and havelis were adorned with guardian figures in brass, and this collection carries that tradition to your own threshold. Each knocker is crafted in pure brass and rich with hand-finished detail. It is weighty in the hand and resonant when it meets the door. Over time the brass will deepen into a warm, natural patina, so the piece grows more beautiful as it is lived with. Choose your design Simha (Lion): The lion has long stood guard at grand doorways as a symbol of courage, strength and protection. Simha has a flowing mane, a sculpted brow and a steady, watchful gaze, and holds a smooth brass ring in its jaws. Gaja (Elephant): The elephant at the entrance is a sign of welcome, wisdom and good fortune. Gaja rises from a round, finely textured backplate, its trunk curving down to hold a ringed knocker banded with raised detailing. Striking on a front door, and equally at home on a wooden gate, a pooja room entrance or a heritage-style cabinet. Details Material: Pure brass Finish: Antique brass Approx. size: Simha: 5 x 3inches / Gaja: 5 x 3inches Mounting: Fixes to the door with screws through the pre-drilled holes Care Instructions Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. Brass naturally darkens over time. Many people love this patina, but to restore the shine, rub gently with a paste of lemon juice and salt or tamarind, or use a mild brass polish. Then rinse with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach and abrasive scrubbers, which can scratch the surface. On exterior doors exposed to rain, wipe the knocker dry after wet weather to slow tarnishing.
