Eterna Triple Date Chronograph 18k Yellow Gold with Sculptured Lugs and Valjoux 72C
Those extraordinary sculptured gold lugs, a beautifully detailed triple-calendar dial and the legendary Valjoux 72C make this oversized Eterna something rather special. Some vintage chronographs have a personality entirely their own. This wonderful Eterna is certainly one of them, combining sophisticated watchmaking with some of the most striking case details we have seen. The substantial 37mm case is crafted in 18k yellow gold, with beautifully sculptured, almost architectural lugs that give the watch remarkable presence. Its elegant proportions, square chronograph pushers and snap-on caseback complete this distinctive design. The two-tone silvered dial is equally captivating. Three recessed registers, elegant Arabic numerals, blue calendar numerals and beautifully blued hands create a wonderfully intricate composition. Day and month appear through two apertures, while a central pointer indicates the date. The dial shows gentle ageing and small imperfections, adding character without taking away from its attractive overall appearance. The gold case retains lovely definition, particularly around those exceptional lugs. Inside beats the manually wound Valjoux 72C, combining a column-wheel chronograph with a complete calendar. The movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker. The watch comes on a Bulang & Sons leather strap. We have a real soft spot for these complicated vintage chronographs. And those lugs? They had us at first glance!
