The dark frame draws a hard outline around the headboard, so the shape stays defined even in a dim room or against a pale wall — the point at which a single-tone headboard tends to blur into the background. It also makes the bed read as a piece of furniture rather than as a soft surface. If your room already has plenty of upholstery — curtains, a bench, an armchair — this is the design that keeps the bed from disappearing into it.
