FT. | 5 BED | 4.5 BATH | 2-STORY | 2-CAR GARAGE Islabella is a five-bedroom elevated house with an elevator that stops at every floor and a primary suite on each living level. The owners can keep to the main floor, where the kitchen, the porch and their own suite all sit on one level, and the family and friends who visit most get a full suite of their own upstairs. The main floor is one open room for living, dining and cooking, with doors front and back: a 30-foot covered porch across the front and, at the rear, a covered porch along the house with an open deck beyond it. Below it, the ground floor holds a two-car garage entered from the side, a heated lower entry with cubbies and an unfinished storage room more than 35 feet long. Key Design Features An elevator to every floor: it opens at the heated lower entry next to the garage, beside the stair on the main floor and onto the bedroom hall upstairs. Groceries and luggage ride up, and so does anyone who would rather skip the stairs. A primary suite on each floor: Suite 1 on the main floor is 13' 6" x 12' 8", with its own 14' 10" x 6' covered porch, a walk-in closet and a bath with two sinks, a freestanding tub, a walk-in shower and the toilet behind its own door. Suite 2 upstairs is 13' 6" x 11' 0", with a walk-in closet and a bath with two sinks, a shower and a separate toilet room. A kitchen in the middle of the house: the 12' 6" x 16' 6" kitchen has a long island with seating for four, a second smaller island with its own sink and a wall of tall cabinets, and the laundry and pantry room is a few steps away. The 17' 6" x 15' 0" living room has a gas fireplace, and the 17' 6" x 10' 0" dining area sits at the doors to the front porch. Three more bedrooms upstairs: Bedroom 4 (10' 6" x 12' 0") has its own bath and a walk-in closet. Bedroom 3 (11' 0" x 11' 0") has a walk-in closet, and Bedroom 5 (12' 10" x 10' 6") works as an office or a fifth bedroom. Those two share a hall bath with two sinks and a tub, and the hall has a linen closet and a storage closet. A ground floor that earns its space: the 21' 4" x 31' 0" garage has two 9' x 8' overhead doors on the side of the house. The heated lower entry has cubbies at the foot of the stair and the elevator, and the 13' 6" x 35' 6" unfinished storage room beside it has space for boards, bikes and whatever else a coastal house collects. Covered Porch Roof Details: 10:12 Main Pitch | 3:12 Secondary The Design Philosophy We drew Islabella for a house that holds two people most of the year and a full house in the summer. The elevator and the suite on the main floor let the owners live on one level for as long as they stay, and the second suite gives the people who visit most a room that feels like theirs. The ground floor takes care of the cars and the beach gear, so the floors above stay for living.
