Bishop Middleham, County Durham | Travel Poster

The white village cottages give Bishop Middleham a settled, gentle mood, framed by a slate roof and broad summer sky, Its soft light and measured view give the place a quietly memorable character. Two pale houses stand close to the viewer, with dark window frames and low garden boundaries. Their roofs step down towards a wooded slope, where a distant church tower rises above the trees. Green hedges fill the foreground, and soft clouds cross the blue sky overhead. Bishop Middleham is shown here in its surroundings. For residents and visitors, the tower's position beyond the cottages links the village street with the surrounding countryside. The near houses hold the scene at human scale, while the church remains visible above the trees. The familiar details make this view easy to place for anyone who has spent time in the area.
