Baychimo: Save State Selections (Vinyl)

For fans of PlayStation 1 soundtracks, drum and bass, electronic fusion. Cartridge Thunder is stoked to collaborate with Frederik Meyer (Baychimo) to present a selection of his original electronic work, which aptly reproduces the 64-bit video game sound. Think: PlayStation, Sega Saturn, N64. 1990s-era drum and bass enthusiasts are bound to enjoy Baychimo’s compositional stylings, reminiscent of music from racing simulators, polygonal worlds, and loading screens. The music is at times so true to form that it feels familiar—have we played this game before? The music and artwork take inspiration from save screens, load states, and PlayStation Picks, which were demo discs from the PlayStation era. Save State Selections is a small selection of Baychimo's work. Similar to a demo disc, you are getting a sample of Baychimo's larger catalogue. There's a lot to enjoy here in terms of electronic music and variety, from Gran Turismo-inspired tracks like "Choose Your Turismo" to the more ethereal "Dreamwave Demo Disc." All music has been meticulously mastered by Justin Perkins (Mystery Room Mastering), who also mastered our Virtua Fighter and Ape Escape releases. Save State has been cut for 33 1/3 RPM, with shorter sides for maximum fidelity and a fatter sound. Each LP includes a digital download code through Baychimo's bandcamp.
