Henry Freeman (1835-1904) Henry was the sole survivor of the Whitby lifeboat disaster of 9th Feb 1861, during which a great storm wrecked more than 200 ships on the east coast of England. The Whitby lifeboat crew launched Five times to rescue stricken vessels, but on their sixth launch, tragedy struck. A freak wave hit the lifeboat, which capsized, and all but one of the crew were lost. Freeman survived because he was the only man to wear the new lifejacket design made from large blocks of cork. He remained a lifeboat man for forty years and saved many lives. Packaging All prints are shipped flat mounted onto black backer board. They will be encased within a thin plastic sleeve to protect ink. I try to use all eco friendly materials. Each print is hand made with love from Port Orchard, WA.
