Merdon Side Table

The Merdon Side Table – ideal beside a bed or sofa – takes its cue from antique furniture, distinguished by its characteristic bobbin-turned legs and a dark, stained finish. Pieces featuring these spool-like elements are known as ‘Bobbin’ or ‘Spool’ furniture. The style was widely produced in the second half of the 17th century and became popular again in the 19th century, taking its name from the resemblance of the legs and arms to the bobbins used in the textile industry for spinning thread. This time-honoured technique has been applied to create this more traditional, cottage-style Merdon table.
