In recognition of National Indigenous History Month, we invite Indigenous participants to join artist Zoe Ann Cardinal Cire for a special hands-on workshop exploring the art of caribou tufting. Zoe Ann Cardinal Cire is a visual artist born and raised on Treaty 6 territory in central Alberta. Her work is rooted in conversations with culture, place, language, and memory, honouring her Kokom’s Beaver Lake Cree Nation lineage and her Moshom’s Métis lineage. Working across painting, beadwork, and textiles, Cire explores the relationships between materials, memory, and the stories they carry. During this workshop, participants will learn the skill of caribou tufting and create their own pair of earrings to take home. Zoe completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts with a minor in Curatorial Studies from Emily Carr University. She received her MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Yale University in 2024, where she was awarded the Blair Dickinson Memorial Prize. Her work has been included in exhibitions at Fazakas Gallery, the Native American Cultural Center, Art Toronto, Bradley Ertaskiran, Burnaby Art Gallery, Seymour Art Gallery, HOEA Gallery, David Castillo, and Franz Kaka. This workshop is offered for Indigenous Peoples. Limited to 15 participants. All supplies provided.
