Roast Level: Light Medium Process: Natural Elevation: 1800 – 2000 MASL Region: Muhanga District Producer: Co-operative Washing Station Variety: Red Bourbon Tasting Notes: Strawberry, Mango, & White Chocolte Producer Info: This natural-processed lot comes from the Abateraninkunga ba Sholi Cooperative in the Muhanga district of the Southern Province of Rwanda. The Coop was established in 2008 by 30 women living and growing coffee in the region as a conscious effort to invigorate the local economy. "Abateraninkunga" translates to "mutual assistance" and aimed to include farmers with similar values to join. Today there are 334 producers, 42% of them women, growing coffee at altitudes of 1800-2000 masl. The Coop became Fair Trade certified in 2015 - the same year they won the Rwanda Cup of Excellence Award. At a washing station that the coop owns collectively, individuals producers bring their self-cultivated coffees to be sorted, processed, and sun-dried on raised beds, following the traditional East African fully washed process. Description: This coffee is a fruity bomb! Right off the bat it fills your nose with berries and creme. The first sip is bright and zingy, a very tropical juiciness that converts into a very lovely mouthfeel. It builds sweetness as it cools getting to an almost nectar-like body that coats your entire palette and slowly develops into a buttery linger and finish! Espresso Notes: Recipe: 20g of coffee into 38g of espresso output. Approx. 26-28 second extraction. (Mahlkonig K30 grinder and Faema E-Nova A1 Espresso machine) This wonderful coffee is one of the most enjoyable espressos in the shop! Nothing but complex fruity goodness. Sweet and syrupy, the espresso sits on your tongue rich and buttery. The linger settles in as floral and sweet, making the finish a nice tropical vibe that tastes complex and delicious long after you had it! Recommended: as one of the most versatile espressos I've ever had, there's almost nothing this wouldn't work with.
