Weingut Dr Wehrheilm Weißburgunder Buntstück 2025
Weingut Dr. Wehrheim is a fourth-generation family estate based in Birkweiler, in the southern Pfalz, and a leading name for serious, dry German wines. Founded in 1920 and now led by Franz Wehrheim, the domaine farms twenty hectares of estate vineyards planted to Riesling, Weissburgunder, Grauburgunder and Spätburgunder. Members of the VDP since 1991, Wehrheim were early pioneers of dry wines and converted to organic and biodynamic viticulture in 2006. Sustainability is central to the estate’s philosophy. Franz Wehrheim represents Germany on the Porto Protocol, sits on the board of respekt-BIODYN, and leads the VDP Sustainability Working Group, championing collaborative, economically viable approaches to environmental responsibility. The vineyards are a patchwork of limestone-rich soils – red sandstone, Muschelkalk, Rotliegendes and Keuper – more reminiscent of Burgundy and Champagne than traditional German stereotypes. This limestone backbone gives the wines their clarity, structure and sense of place.
