Miles Davis - Amandla
Miles Davis’ Amandla was the final collaboration between the trumpeter and producer/bassist Marcus Miller, following Tutu and Music From Siesta. Originally released in 1989, the album blends jazz with go-go, funk, zouk and electronic production, balancing programmed rhythms with live performances from an accomplished backing cast. Highlights include ‘Mr. Pastorius’, a tribute to the late bassist Jaco Pastorius featuring drummer Al Foster, while ‘Catémbe’ takes its name from the red wine and cola cocktail popular in Mozambique and Angola. Stylish, polished and unmistakably late-period Miles, Amandla captures Davis continuing to push his sound into new territory. Repressing for Miles’ Centennial.
