Thoke Salad Servers

These hand-carved wooden salad servers took a year to get right. We wanted to really see and feel the marks left by the carpenter’s blade, to see the signs that tell you something has been made by human hands. Our carpenters, however, are perfectionists. Every sample came back smoother and more refined than the last. Eventually, we won them over on the glory of imperfection. The result is a pair of salad servers that celebrate the mark of the maker, carved from Burmese hardwood and finished by hand. Each set is different, carrying the character of the carpenter who made it. Named after the Burmese word for salad, thoke.
