Phonak Audéo EON Sphere Phonak’s newest flagship hearing aid, the Audéo EON Sphere, is built around what Phonak calls its HYPERSONIC chip, the successor to the DEEPSONIC chip used in the previous Sphere Infinio generation. Phonak says the new chip is 25% more efficient than DEEPSONIC, and combined with a retrained DNN architecture, brings total efficiency gains of 37% over the previous Sphere generation. According to Phonak, this is what allows EON Sphere to be 25% smaller and 20% lighter than its Infinio Sphee predecessor while still delivering up to 38 hours of battery life on a full charge. EON Sphere is a prescription hearing aid and requires a professional fitting. We have not yet fit EON Sphere in clinic; what follows reflects what Phonak has published so far. Key Features HYPERSONIC and ERA, two chips working together: EON Sphere runs on two processors. ERA, the base chip shared across the whole EON line, handles Bluetooth, Roger, and Auracast connectivity. HYPERSONIC is the second, dedicated AI chip, exclusive to EON Sphere, running the real-time speech-separation processing behind Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0. Multiple industry sources describe this as the same two-chip architecture used in the previous Sphere Infinio generation, with HYPERSONIC replacing the earlier DEEPSONIC chip. Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0: Phonak’s DNN-based speech-in-noise processing, exclusive to the Sphere tier, running on the HYPERSONIC chip. Phonak reports up to a 10 dB SNR benefit in loud noise, and says its own testing found EON Sphere outperformed four other manufacturers’ hearing aids under the same conditions. This is manufacturer-sponsored testing, not independent verification. AutoSense OS AI 8.0: Phonak’s automatic scene classification system. The company says this version adds a separate exit threshold for the Speech in Loud Noise program, intended to keep speech-enhancing features engaged longer when noise levels fluctuate rather than switching on and off repeatedly. WindBlock 2.0: Phonak’s updated wind noise management. The company says it reduces wind noise by up to 50 dB while preserving more of the target sound, including speech, than the previous WindBlock version. Universal Bluetooth connectivity: Phonak says EON connects to virtually any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone regardless of brand, plus Auracast broadcast audio support for compatible venues, and continued Roger and DuoPhone compatibility. Up to 38 hours of battery life on a full charge, per Phonak; actual runtime depends on streaming use, listening environment, and battery age. Chargers Phonak released two new charging accessories alongside EON: the Charger RIC E, a desktop charger, and the ChargerGo RIC I E, a portable charger with its own internal battery, reported to hold roughly three additional full charges for travel.
