Both were rescued from a difficult past where they had been used for breeding and were very nervous when rescued. They have both come a long way, and are a true, bonded pair, with Coco gaining confidence from having Izzy by her side. Izzy is the more outgoing girl and loves attention, cuddles and playing with toys. She also loves to dance with you! She can be nervous around new people and outside the home can become over excited and vocal around strange other dogs when out on walks. In comparison, Coco is quieter and more laid-back but is still a nervous girl around noise and high energy situations. She enjoys being around her family and looks to Izzy for reassurance. Izzy and Coco enjoy their daily walks, love their food and adore each other. They have lived with a child but due to Coco’s nervous nature they would be best suited to a home with either no children or sensible, older teenagers. They would be a wonderful fit for adopters who are home most of the day and can provide a calm, patient environment where they can continue to build their confidence and learn how to be a loved pet. They could also live with another calm resident dog following a successful introduction. Izzy can be protective of squeaky toys, so this will need to be managed – at the moment in a straightforward manner by removing the squeak. Both girls are in generally good health, although Izzy needs her anal glands emptied approximately every 7 weeks. They do not enjoy being left on their own and will bark and have accidents – this is understandable given their history as ex-breeding dogs and we will provide behaviourist support if required. Izzy also snapped at the person using her for breeding when he tried to pick her up without permission. Both Izzy and Coco may initially be frightened around new men, so they would need to be kind, caring and give them the time to become comfortable around them. With time and patience, both dogs will learn the expectations of their new home, although it is highly unlikely they will ever completely quit the barking! Izzy and Coco are a delightful and loving pair of dogs who deserve a loving and committed home.
