Counter Stool: 1006 Navy
Design Inspiration: First built for the deck of Navy battleships in 1944, the 1006 Navy Chair was engineered to survive salt air, constant vibration, and — as legend has it — an eighth-floor drop test onto a Chicago sidewalk that left it undamaged. It's a design born from a military spec, not a mood board, and that origin still reads in every line. On a yacht, that history isn't decoration — it's the actual point: a chair engineered for shipboard looks at home at sea. Craftsmanship: Each chair is shaped from recycled aluminum through Emeco's signature 77-step process, taking soft scrap metal and hardening it into a seamless, one-piece frame with an estimated 150-year life cycle. It ships in a range of finishes, from raw brushed aluminum to Emeco's in-house powder coat colors, so the industrial silhouette can read cool and utilitarian or take on a saturated accent color depending on the room. It's still made by hand in Hanover, Pennsylvania. The Dixie & Grace Difference: Great design isn't about any single beautiful piece — it's knowing how color, finish, fabric, proportion, and scale work together, as they have since antiquity. Sara Fattori, licensed by the Florida State Board of Architecture and Interior Design, brings that eye to every piece in our collection, choosing not just what's well-made, but what belongs together. As a bridge to the world of designer furnishings — not a mono-brand or mass producer — Dixie & Grace gives you access to the same caliber of options the trade has always kept to itself, with as much or as little guidance as you need to bring the 1006 Navy Chair into your space.
