Vintage Artisanal Duck Basket

Artisanal, expressive and full of detail. This lidded Shanghai Weave basket takes the shape of a duck. Head and body are densely woven in fine rattan, while dozens of individually shaped, overlapping pieces of split bamboo form the wings and feathers. A carved beak and glass eyes give the bird its character. The duck lifts off to reveal a woven basket underneath, making it as functional as it is decorative. Its honey, green and yellow tones look especially good against lighter interiors, on a console, shelf or sideboard. Material: Rattan, split bamboo, carved wood, glass Condition: Overall good vintage condition with signs of use, small missing piece in the back. Measurements: L 34 cm W 15 cm H 18 cm
