Vintage Brass Moneybox

Unusual piece, that I am assuming to be a moneybox, but I've not been able to find any comparable items, so take my guess with a pinch of salt! A weighty item, with no apparent maker's mark, this has a slit in the top, and unscrews from it's base. Also has two holes opposite each other about midway down the column. I have considered whether this is some kind of lingam (given the shape and decoration) but it's still a bit baffling! Dimensions; Height= 10 cm Max width= 8.7 cm In excellent vintage condition, no flaws.
