Using the original PREQUEL fabric featured in the S1020 Striped Work Shirt, we created a new version with an open-collar design. While using the same fabric as the S1020, the open collar and relaxed silhouette give the shirt a distinctly different character. The distinctive stripes, with their depth and three-dimensional texture, can be enjoyed in a more casual and relaxed style. This item was produced as a Shop Custom Edition specifically for our retail partners and is therefore not produced or offered as part of PREQUEL’s regular collections. The pieces available through the PREQUEL Official Online Store are limited solely to a small number originally produced as backup stock to ensure that our retail partners could receive their full order quantities, along with a few additional pieces resulting from production quantity adjustments. FABRIC An original PREQUEL fabric that reinterprets the beautifully complex stripes found in vintage textiles through modern weaving techniques. To recreate this distinctive stripe pattern, rarely seen in fabrics today, we carefully studied every detail—from the selection of yarns and weaving methods to the construction of the weave itself—and reconstructed it as a fabric for contemporary clothing. The fabric is carefully woven on a jacquard loom using two warp beams. Rather than creating the stripes simply through contrasting colors, variations in yarn and weave structure give the fabric a subtle three-dimensional quality. This creates a sense of depth and allows the stripes to reveal different expressions depending on the viewing distance and the way light falls across the surface. While retaining the classical presence reminiscent of vintage fabrics, the fabric has been developed at a comfortable weight of 160 gsm / 5.5 oz, making it easy to incorporate naturally into modern everyday wear. At first glance, it appears to be a simple stripe. Look closer, and the complexity of the weave and its distinctive three-dimensional texture begin to reveal themselves. DESIGN The open collar and relaxed silhouette create an easy, comfortable fit designed for effortless wear. It can be worn casually open over a T-shirt or buttoned up and worn on its own, making it a versatile piece that works naturally across a wide range of styles. By keeping the design itself simple, the distinctive stripe pattern and unique character of the fabric are allowed to take center stage. With continued wear, the fabric will develop even more character, gradually becoming a piece that feels uniquely your own.
