Soft Hearted Scientists - The Phantom Of Canton

Label: Fruits de Mer Soft Hearted Scientists' latest album, The Phantom Of Canton, always felt destined for vinyl—but we wanted to do more than simply press the CD onto a single LP. The result is an expanded 3LP edition, presenting the original album across four sides, plus an exclusive sidelong reprise assembled by Nathan Hall and producer Frank Naughton, and a full side of instrumental mixes. Nathan describes the album as: "...loosely speaking, a psychedelia-infused concept album dealing with themes of alienation, lost love, and the personal cost of pursuing creative passions. Yet it's ultimately hopeful, even joyful, recognising that the highs outweigh the lows. Musically, it may be the band's most ambitious work yet. Electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards, sound effects and sonic textures colour songs influenced by everything from 1940s big band and 1950s rock & roll to psychedelia, folk rock, prog, punk, post-punk, electronic music and film soundtracks." This deluxe Fruits de Mer edition gives The Phantom Of Canton the vinyl treatment it deserves, expanding its rich musical world with two exclusive sides unavailable on the original release.
