Condition: A: Mint Additional Details: Roy Lichtenstein’s Cubist Cello brings his distinctive Pop Art sensibility to the angular forms of Cubism, transforming a musical subject into a bold, graphic composition. This large screenprint on 300-gram Somerset textured paper was published by the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein and Noblet Serigraphie, Inc., New York, to benefit the American Friends of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Created to support the museum’s Roy Lichtenstein Study Center for Contemporary Art, the work was in its final proofing stages at the time of the artist’s death in 1997. This example is unnumbered and unsigned by the artist. The reverse bears a stamp with print details and the signature of printer Jean-Yves Noblet. Another impression of Cubist Cello, bearing the notation “E.P. 2/2,” is held in the collection of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C..
