Pisano - RPF Tannat - 2021

RPF, for Reserva Personal de la Familia, is one of the most prestigious cuvées from Pisano, a family estate founded in Progreso, in the department of Canelones, north of Montevideo. The proximity of the Río de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean offers a temperate oceanic climate, sunny but cooled by sea breezes, on low-acidity clay-limestone soils where Tannat thrives.Tannat, a grape variety from South-West France and the most widely planted in the vineyard, is renowned for its richness in tannins and polyphenols. After fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for six to twelve months, a duration adjusted plot by plot to soften the grape's natural power while bringing depth, complexity and elegance.This wine reveals notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, black cherry, plum, violet, pepper, dark chocolate, tobacco and liquorice. The palate is broad, structured and concentrated, with a firm yet integrated tannic frame, controlled acidity and a long, deep finish.
