CUPID WITH A PISTOL ON TOP OF A MOUNTAIN OF SKULLS

Inspired by an illustration attributed to Gustave Doré, this embroidery depicts a winged Cupid sitting on a pile of human skulls, holding a pistol instead of his traditional bow and arrow. The unusual scene gives the familiar symbol of love a darker, almost sinister meaning, bringing together romance, death, and dark humor. Recreated in black and white embroidery, the design retains the intricate, engraved appearance of the original artwork. A distinctive piece of gothic-inspired wearable art for those who appreciate unusual historical illustrations and their darker symbolism.
