2024 Pedres Blanques Rouge, Roussillon, France
Pedres Blanques is the tiny estate of Hirofumi and Rié Shoji near Collioure in Roussillon, about 3.5 hectares on steep, terraced schist and granite slopes near the sea, swept by the Tramontane. The vines are farmed organically. The Rouge is Grenache from vines planted in 1965 and 1989. It is fermented as whole clusters with ambient yeast and a month-long maceration, aged in tank and barrel, and bottled with no added sulphur. Cult wine. Rare bottle. Coastal Grenache for grilled lamb, Catalan dishes or charcuterie.
