North Port-Brechin 1970 Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice
Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 75cl / 40% A rare North Port-Brechin 1970 single malt Scotch whisky, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as part of their long-running Connoisseurs Choice range. Distilled in 1970 at the now-demolished North Port Distillery in Brechin, Angus, this vintage Highland malt was bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle, featuring the classic map label associated with earlier Connoisseurs Choice releases. North Port Distillery, also known as Brechin Distillery, was established in 1820 by the Guthrie brothers and operated for more than 160 years before closing in 1983 during the widespread restructuring of the Scotch whisky industry. The distillery was subsequently demolished in the 1990s, making surviving bottlings increasingly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of Scotland's lost distilleries. Gordon & MacPhail played an important role in preserving North Port's whisky, releasing several vintages through their Connoisseurs Choice range. This 1970 vintage offers a rare opportunity to explore the character of a long-closed Highland distillery, with older Gordon & MacPhail bottlings becoming increasingly difficult to find.
