Prophet's Rock Red Vermouth 2024

The red vermouth takes a richer, spicier direction, built on barrel-aged Pinot Noir with a mix of Central Otago botanicals. Ripe cherry and red berry flavours meet notes of orange peel, rosehip and warming spice, with hints of native horopito adding an extra layer of character. Rounded and full of flavour, it’s great over ice or as the backbone of a classic Negroni. Winemaker Paul Pujol remembers the first time he saw snow on the ground in November at Prophet Rock’s Bendigo vineyards in Central Otago. The adage that the greatest wines come from marginal climates really plays out here. Having honed his craft with European legends (Maison Kuentz-Bas and Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé), Paul’s sophisticated expressions of this beautiful and extreme part of the world are among New Zealand’s best.
