Thyme - Woolly

If you’re a lover of thyme then this delightful variety is for you. Woolly Thyme, far from being mammoth is actually a low-growing, creeping thyme with soft bum fluffy leaves. Woolly thyme plants form a dense, silvery green carpet which will cascade down the sides of raised beds, pots and rockery stones as well as between paving slabs and along paths. The furry leaves become covered in a mass of tiny pale to deep purple flowers in the summer which are full of nectar and provide a banquet for bees and pollinators. Whilst thyme is generally slug resistant due to compounds in its leaves, the hairs on woolly thyme is said to add an extra deterrent to hungry gastropods.
