The strap is not holding anything. That is the point. The Sylvie takes the Mary Jane apart and keeps only the line. A slim strap crosses the vamp with a small gold buckle, but the shoe slips on and off without touching it — the strap is drawn, not fastened. Below, a square toe runs wide and flat across the foot, and 2.8 centimetres of lift sit inside the shoe rather than under it, so the sole reads level from every angle.
