Antique Alligator Doctor Bag

The largest and best antique alligator doctor bag I’ve had. It came from the estate of a 94 year old whose father was, in fact, a doctor. This information given to me by the dealer matches the date of the bag- turn of the century. The dramatic shape and exotic leather makes them gorgeous display pieces, but this one is good enough to carry as a purse as well. The bag is large, measuring about 15” long and 10” tall. It’s mostly in very good shape with some minor wear to the handle and scuffing. It’s still got its metal feet on the bottom and the hardware functions well. The leather is most worn at the sides, as shown. The interior looks like cotton linen and is fairly clean. I didn’t notice any rips or stains. I would say it’s good enough to use, so long as it’s not overstuffed, especially if you have a cobbler spruce it up.
