93pts Wine Spectator Dark and even a touch meaty, this red offers cherry, raspberry, blackberry and spice flavors. Dense and almost chewy yet stays fresh. There's fine purity at the core and a long, saturated aftertaste. 92pts Jasper Morris Another fine deep purple. Here the bouquet is noticeably less solar. Even so, there is a slight peachiness on the nose, but it is pure red fruit on the palate with weight and an attractive warmth. Excellent length, mostly on the raspberry. Succulent and satisfying. Winemaker Notes Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières is soft, supple, and delicately scented with strawberry aromas and flavors and an underpinning of minerality. Aging in 30% new Burgundian pièce brings subtle notes of vanilla and spice. Les Lavières can mature early and offers excellent near-term drinking. Red Burgundy might be the world's most flexible food wine. The wine's high acidity, medium body, medium alcohol, and low tannins make it very food-friendly. Red Burgundy, with its earthy and sometimes gamey character, is a classic partner to roasted game birds, grilled duck breast, and dishes that feature mushrooms, black truffles, or are rich in umami.
