Country of Origin: China Notes: There’s a lot of misinformation surrounding authentic Da Hong Pao. The legendary original Da Hong Pao comes from just three remaining mother bushes in China, and the annual production from these historic plants is said to be extremely limited—making the genuine original tea extremely expensive and virtually impossible to obtain outside of China. What we offer is a different expression of this legendary tea: an exceptional Red Oolong created through carefully propagated plants descended from the original Da Hong Pao lineage. The result is a bold yet remarkably smooth tea with tremendous body and depth. A heavy roast brings forward rich fruity and naturally sweet aromas, balanced by the tea’s complex, full-bodied character. On the palate, this tea has a substantial, almost chewy texture that coats the mouth with layers of fruit and sweetness. The flavor lingers beautifully after each sip, creating a long, satisfying finish. This is also a tea that can reward patience. With proper storage, it has excellent aging potential over 1–3 years. If the roast initially feels too pronounced, allowing the tea to rest and soften those roasted notes and reveal more of the underlying fruit, sweetness, and complexity over time.
