Blankets in summer, too. This idea came to me while looking at vintage 517XX and 519XX. "It's a waste to keep this pattern only on the lining." If the lining of a denim jacket has a cute pattern, there's no reason it wouldn't go well as an inner layer for the denim jacket. However, blankets are usually for cold seasons. In summer, you take off your jacket, and that stripe pattern disappears. But I don't want you to forget about this stripe pattern even in summer, when blankets aren't needed (lol). So, I thought, why not make it wearable in summer too? That's how the INSIDE-OUT STRIPE TEE was created. Yesterday, I wrote about "bringing the lining stripe to the outside," but today, I had someone actually wear it as an inner layer for a Denim Jacket. When wearing the jacket, the blanket pattern peeks out from the neckline and placket. And when you take off the jacket, it can be worn as a stripe T-shirt. You can enjoy the "Inside Out" without wearing it inside out. Today, for some reason, I tried pairing the 1st type jacket with the 1st type stripe, and the 2nd type jacket with the 2nd type stripe. Of course, this was just what I wanted to try, and there are no rules on how to wear it. Whether it's a 1st or 2nd type, a dark or faded denim jacket. When we first started planning, we were thinking of expressing the blanket pattern using only the colors of a typical stripe T-shirt. However, with that method, the pattern inevitably became flat. For better or worse, it looked like a slightly cartoonish stripe, like something Gian (from Doraemon) would wear, and it didn't capture the unevenness and depth of the threads found in vintage blankets. When I consulted a fabric store about what to do, they suggested "inlay knitting." Inlay knitting is a method where another thread is inserted horizontally between the loops of the base knitted fabric. By running threads of the desired color and thickness as inlays, we were able to not only reproduce the pattern but also express the floating and three-dimensional quality of the threads, just like the vintage blankets that were the source material. It has a unique texture that looks a bit like a sweater. Simply put, it's a fabric that "turned a blanket into a T-shirt." While it's still hot, wear it by itself. When it gets a little cooler, wear it as an inner layer for a denim jacket. Keep wearing it from summer to autumn.
