Vintage Lampshade Making Workshop, Brighton

Come and make a beautiful deco-style lampshade in just a few hours, no experience needed, just a few hours to spare and a love of all things vintage. You'll work on a gorgeous deco domed frame, a real statement shape that's very much having a moment right now, and choose from a small curated selection of vintage-style fabrics, sourced secondhand wherever possible, both patterned and plain, finished with braid and tassel trim for that unmistakable vintage look. Already have the perfect fabric at home? You're welcome to bring your own, just get in touch beforehand so I can check it will work well for the frame and technique. This workshop uses a lovely, accessible technique that's more time-friendly than the fully hand-sewn method taught in our Traditional Lampshade Technique course, which means you'll leave with a beautiful, finished lampshade the same day, ready to enjoy in your home. If you're drawn to the idea of really mastering traditional hand-stitching as a craft, that's exactly what our Traditional course is for; whereas this workshop is about a joyful, achievable making experience with a gorgeous result at the end of it.
